Fall is Looking Good

September 10th, 2009 Posted in Tennessee Ramblings | 1 Comment »

With all the plentiful rain this year, the trees have not been stressed out as in the past few years.  As a result the Autumn colors should be spectacular this year.  I can hardly wait, although it does mean summer is coming to an end.  This summer has been rather mild and never got really hot, so I can’t complain.  As soon as the trees begin turning here in Tennessee I will be sure to post some pictures.  In the meantime if any of you have Autumn photos you would like to send me please do, I’ll be happy to post them.

The picture below is one taken by a neighbor of mine a few years back of our lake.

Believe it or not the Sun is Shining

March 18th, 2009 Posted in Main Content, Tennessee Ramblings | No Comments »

I can’t believe it. The sun is finally shining today. What a glorious site. Even the trees and bushes look happier this morning. I’m itching to get out and do some planting now that the weather is finally warming up and it looks like Spring will be a reality this year. The only thing I am not looking forward to is Spring cleaning. UGH!!! I hate to clean. I need to find a self-cleaning house, then all would be well with my world.(LOL)

First Tornado Scare of the Season

February 11th, 2009 Posted in Main Content, Tennessee Ramblings | No Comments »

Here it is still the winter season and we’re getting tornado warnings!  Worst yet the storm today did scare me aTornado bit.  Around 2pm I was sitting at the ol’ computer looking out the window, when all of a sudden  huge gust of wind came through.  It managed to knock over the water fountain in the front yard and move a rather large planter I have on the front porch.  A few minutes later we lost power.  It did not come back on until 3 hours later.   When power did come on, I turned on the TV and saw news stories about the storm damage to different parts of Tennessee.  I am thankful that we had no serious damage to our home, however, I can’t say that about some other folks in the area.  Lots of trees and power lines were down as well as a few roofs blown away.
