Artistic Flower Arrangements » Neighborhood http://www.artisticflowerarrangements.com/blog The World of Flowers and Flower Arranging Sun, 20 May 2012 07:31:18 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.2 Good-bye Old Friend http://www.artisticflowerarrangements.com/blog/good-bye-old-friend http://www.artisticflowerarrangements.com/blog/good-bye-old-friend#comments Mon, 16 Aug 2010 12:58:23 +0000 Judy http://www.artisticflowerarrangements.com/blog/?p=681 This week I lost my best friend.  She was a joy to have around the house and kept me and hubby laughing at her antics.  I am talking of our dog Freeway.  Since the day we found her at the shelter until the day we had to take her on her last trip to the vet she will always be remembered fondly.  Freeway loved her belly rubs every morning, before her daily walk with my husband.  She loved  to be petted and cuddling on the couch .  She relished visiting her friends around the neighborhood when she and hubby would go on neighborhood watch together.  All my husband had to do was jingle the keys to the truck and she was there, ready to go.  Yes, I will miss her silent begging for treats and loving nature.  She was the love of our lives for 9 years, and we will miss her dearly……..Good bye my friend. Well, anyway after I finished it, I was trying to figure out what I could do with it. So I called around the neighborhood to see if anyone had any birthdays or anniversaries coming up, but no one did. Then I remembered that one of our friends was in the local nursing home because of a series of strokes and I called her husband to see if she might like to have it as a New Years Get Well. He said sure so I had him take it to her. I changed the sign to say Happy New Year 2009 and added a sparkler candle to it. He took it over to her. She wasn’t in her room but in the community center room and so he put it on the table where she was. Everyone that came in saw it and thought she had gotten a cake for New Year’s. But when they looked closer they saw it was actually a floral arrangement. So I guess it accomplished what I set out to do. Make a floral cake (Sugar Free).
