Ancient Egyptians knew of flower power when it came to expressing love. They adorned their pharaohs, their tombs and their warrior carts with flower bouquets. The blue and the white lotus (water lilies) or the papyrus flower were frequently depicted in hieroglyphics and found in tombs.

Sending bouquets of flowers to say “I’m sorry” may work the first time but may not be received so well the next time. So how does one choose the appropriate bouquet?

flower bouquets
The first thing to consider when choosing floral bouquets arrangements for lovers is the nature of the relationship. Daisies and chrysanthemums are perfect for a cheerful and playful lover in an innocent and new relationship. Another flirtatious favorite for new loves is the fragrant hyacinth.

Modest and shy lovers will like something sweet and simple like violets. Rose flowers bouquets are the most famous, particularly red roses, but there are many other flower garden contenders: tulips, lilacs, lilies, wildflowers, irises and orchids, for instance. For intensely passionate physical relationships, it should be noted that tulips are traditionally known to represent “the perfect lover.”

Sometimes flowers and gifts can be coordinated with regard to the recipient’s home interior decor or favorite colors. For special events, matching the bouquet color to a dress or a tie is always a prudent idea. Does she have an Asian-themed room? Why not try some bamboo, Asiatic lilies, cherry blossoms or a Bonzai tree?

To adorn large spaces, it’s ok to go big and bold with vivid bouquets of lilies, hydrangeas or gladioluses. If her bedroom is blue, then the sender can try a monochromatic theme of all blue flowers. Free-spirited nature lovers may prefer flowering plants or natural scents like peonies, lavender and jasmine, offset by an accent like ivy. Classic romantics will love rose bouquets.

flowers bouquets
Flower bouquets have been given for thousands of years to bring luck in battle, to adorn lovers, to express love at Valentine’s Day or to celebrate kings or to provide happiness and tranquility. In modern times, people often forget to simply stop and smell the roses during the hustle and bustle of a busy day.

If people cannot get out of the office to enjoy nature, the best recourse is to bring nature to them. Studies show that having flowers in the home and workplace leads to higher productivity and creativity.

Getting married is a joyous time. It is a time in which you make vows to spend the rest of your life with that special someone. The wedding planning can be somewhat stressful, but not quite as stressful as impressing the mother-in-law. Mothers are protective of their children, so it is important to let the future mother-in-law know that you are the right one for her child. This involves showing much respect and doing what you need to do to get her approval. If you do not get her approval, then your spouse has to hear how mom feels you are not good enough. Refer to flowers for more information.

Well, she may not say that you’re not good enough, but it is still good to let the future mother-in-law know that you respect her. After all, she is the mother of your future spouse who is the reason for your happiness. You have to express this thankfulness somehow and a great way to do that is by giving her a floral arrrangement as a simple thank you for being such a great mother to your future spouse.

How to choose the flowers

Choosing the right flowers can be somewhat difficult because you don’t want to get her flowers that she hates. You also don’t want to get her flowers that she will be indifferent about. Sure, the gesture is kind, but you want to make sure that your choice is one that will make her very pleased.

So sit down with your future spouse and ask:

1. What kind of flowers does your mom like?
2. What are her favorite colors?
3. Does she like real or artificial flowers?

Asking these questions are a great way to figure out what it is your future mother-in-law likes. If by some chance your future spouse does not know the answers to all of these questions, be observant when you are at your future mother-in-law’s house. Does she have flowers or other plants around? Does she have pictures of flowers or is there are consistency in floral patterns on curtains and even furniture? If you notice that she has a fondness for floral patterns with pink roses, then chances are she likes pink roses. If you get her pink roses, then you know that they will match the room.

Another thing to look at if your future spouse doesn’t have the answer is if there are real plants or artificial plants in the house. Does she have any pets? If she has pets, then she might prefer artificial flowers above real ones because the animals may try to eat them.

Don’t be obvious

Aside from asking your future spouse questions, try not to be too obvious when looking around the house. This can look rather suspicious. If the information is not easily available, the home most certainly contains the answers. If there are no answers within the home, ask your future spouse if she is opposed to roses. Many women love roses and giving your future mother-in-law pink, yellow, or even peach roses can make her day. By coordinating with the color themes in her home, she knows that you are paying attention, which tells her that you have a regard for her, that you are observant, and that you are concerned about what she thinks. That tells her that you respect her and you will gain her respect in return.

Having her respect is very important when marrying her child because this means that there will be peace within the family and a regard for each other. Giving her flowers says so much and choosing the right ones says so much more. Visit flowers for more information.

In my next few posts I’m presenting ten tips on flower arranging that I think will be helpful to anyone interested in the subject. So with that said here is your first tip:

Flowers.

Beautiful. Colorful. Delightful.

They are the perfect décor to your home, the perfect touch to your wedding, and the perfect gift for that someone special. Flowers, in both small and large arrangements, are a surefire way to light up someone’s life.

And you don’t have to spend a small fortune to do it. With a little know-how, you can create your very own flower arrangements that are just as great, even better, than your flower shop. It just takes a little knowledge, a good eye, and some creativity.

Go with Your Gut and Toss out the Rules

There are hundreds, even thousands, of books and articles about flower arranging. Every one of them will give you rules—what you should and should not do, color combinations to avoid, types of flowers that just don’t match, and kinds of containers you should never use.

Don’t listen.

Flower arranging is all about your own creativity. If you think something is going to look good, it probably will. Just like all art forms, you have to go with your gut. Do you love the colors pink and orange, but every rule says you should never mix pink and orange?

Forget it.

Go with your instinct and mix your favorite colors. It surely will be aesthetically pleasing to you and definitely will be a display of absolute creativity. You might not want to use your pink and orange arrangement for a wedding and maybe not everyone will like it, but your out-of-the-box thinking will give you complete enjoyment and personal satisfaction. You will have created a unique and extremely beautiful arrangement for you to treasure.
