Flowers, whether silk flower or fresh flowers are one of the favorite gifts to give and receive, as they convey a warm feeling to the recipient. They always give off a positive impact on a person’s emotions; they give delight due to their fragile beauty, and spell out a powerful symbol of enduring affection and optimism towards life. The flowers are an expression of the heart of the giver that transcends words; they express the exact sentiment that one might find difficult to convey in words.

There are many occasions when Flowers are sent to your friends, relatives and loved ones such as wedding ceremony, birthday, Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day and some other occasions. You can give your mother a gift of beautiful flowers on Mother’s day for all that she does throughout the year for you. A flower is a symbol of love and you can give a flower bouquet to your girlfriend or spouse on Valentines Day or wedding anniversary. Funeral flowers are also a way to express empathy and condolence. Use wedding flowers to createa wedding flower bouquet and floral arrangement to decorate the church for the service and the reception too. Whatever kind of flowers you get, make certain to put some thought into it. It is best if you do your research, know which flowers are in season and which kinds of flowers go together well in an arrangement, and especially find out what people’s favorite flowers are before you get them flowers as a present.

Aside from being a great present and decoration, a recent study conducted at Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey, offers scientific proof that flowers do improve our emotional health. First, flowers do provide happiness, surely a necessity for our emotional well-being. Second, the impact of flowers is positive and long-term. Lastly, flowers help to enable connections between people.

Flowers were only available in the flower shop and supermarkets traditionally. These flower shops are loaded with a vast selection of different flowers. You will find exotic flowers such as Anthuriums, soft waxy orchids and breath taking Ostrich Plume Ginger flowers and there will also be Peruvian lilies in a mix of colors arranged next to trays of delphiniums and larkspur flowers. However, the increasing demand for flowers as well as the popularity of the Internet resulted to the existence of online flower shops and websites selling flowers.

These Internet Flower stores generally have interesting selection of flower arrangements and floral bouquet that we can look at before we order. You can see if you would like to purchase tropical flowers like Ostrich Plume Ginger flowers, Lobster claws, or Peruvian Lilies and you can also choose assorted roses, many different orchids, tulips, daisies, asters and many others. You can choose to buy seasonal floral arrangements, special holiday gifts, occasional gifts and even get well flower arrangements. The best way that you can buy flowers online is to see the many flower delivery services online and look for the ones who can provide you with the flowers of your choice. Another alternative is to do your own flower arranging.

It is a good idea to work with a florist when choosing flowers because they are able to show different displays and arrangement that can stimulate ideas, which can turn out to be very unique and in a lot of situations fit into the budget you are working with. A great way to choose a florist is by simple ‘word of mouth’; a florist that creates an impressive floral design usually makes a habit of repeating good work. You can ask family members, friends or co-workers for florist recommendations. You should also ask about affiliations with other florist organizations. Affiliations often mean that certain minimum standards must be met; a florist may have affiliations with organizations such as the Society of American Florists and national wire services such as FTD florists or Teleflora. The umbrella company will then forward your order on to a member florist in your locale.

Floral arrangements are truly a gift to all of us, they are not only beautiful but they are fascinating proofs of how powerful the effect nature has to humans. Send flowers to make your loved ones feel special, send flowers on any occasions or simply send them without any special reason and let the flowers create their magic in the lives of those who are really close to your heart.

March 18th, 2009 Posted in Main Content, Tennessee Ramblings | No Comments »

I can’t believe it. The sun is finally shining today. What a glorious site. Even the trees and bushes look happier this morning. I’m itching to get out and do some planting now that the weather is finally warming up and it looks like Spring will be a reality this year. The only thing I am not looking forward to is Spring cleaning. UGH!!! I hate to clean. I need to find a self-cleaning house, then all would be well with my world.(LOL)

The weather has finally begun to warm up.  Every day is getting a little warmer and I think that spring will Spring buds.actually become a reality.  The last few weeks had me questioning whether or not the four seasons would come this year. Last year it seemed like we went from Winter to Summer to Fall and missed Spring altogether.  I am getting excited about planting for new flowers this year and have been itching to get out in the yard and do it.  Now with the warmer weather approaching, I will be able to do my planting.

Flower Arranging Tips for the Beginner

March 7th, 2009 Posted in Flower Arrangements, Main Content | No Comments »

What can more special than creating your own flower arrangement for an upcoming holiday or birthday? Floral Cake, great for any occasion. You will make the gift special and impress your friends and loved ones. The idea may be overwhelming. This is natural when trying something new and you are unsure it will turn out right. If you are creative and have a strong affinity for flowers, than you can do it. It is a lot easier than you think. This article contains suggestions that the pros use when they make those fantastic flower arrangements. By the end of this article, you will be flower arranging like the pros. Refer to flowers for more information.

The first step is picking the right flowers. Try to pick colors and shapes of flowers that will work well together. Place them next to one another and judge how they look. There are occasions that you will want to use the same flower or color of flowers. Sometimes different colors of the same flower might work well together.

Mother's Day Arrangement, featuring roses.Roses, carnations, zinnias, tulips or lilies, usually are the central focus of arrangements. This is because they are single bloom flowers. Think about adding flowers with large stems to make up the back of the arrangement. This helps balance the arrangement out and give it depth. Think about using delphinium, gladiolus, and snapdragons to accomplish this effect. Small buds and multiple buds give an n arrangement fullness and density. Babys breath is a good example of this type flower.

The next item that you need to choose is the vase or container that you plan to use. Again, consider the Father's Day Arrangement size, shape, and color of the vase. Does it match or clash with your flower arranging  choices? Think about the width of the container. Will it bee to big or small to hold the number of flowers you have chosen. A good rule of thumb is your container should be about one-third to one-half the size of your flower arrrangement. If you pick a short vase, consider you will have to cut the stems of flowers so that they will fit. With some flowers this will not work. If you have short flowers, they may not reach the water below in the vase.

Once you have your vase and container you are ready to make your arrangement. Begin by cutting each flower stem diagonally about one inch from the bottom. Do this while holding the end of the stem under warm water. This cut will ensure that each stem will be able to absorb water moisture and nutrients efficiently. Fill your vase half way with water. As you cut each flower put them into the container so that they will be in water. You are not arranging them yet.

After you have cut all the flowers, fill your actual vase two thirds of the way with warm water. Look at the vase and make sure that it is not leaking. Begin your arrangement by placing your blossom flowers in the vase. Step away and see how it looks. If you judge that the stems are too long you will need to cut them. You may run into the flowers being too short. You may need to change the container if this is the case. You can also add stones or marbles into the bottom of the vase.

Continue to add flowers and cut them as you need to change the proportions and look to your arrangement. As you add more flowers, they will stay in position better.

Once you have completed your arrangement, make sure that you pick the perfect place to display your work of art. It should be in a cool place that is not too drafty. Change the water on a regular basis. If you have trouble getting inspired, look in magazines and websites that have flower arrangement displays. Print them out and try to duplicate them on your own. You may even improve on it. Your friends and family will be impressed. Visit flowers for further information.

Tips For Choosing the Right Wedding Florist

March 6th, 2009 Posted in Main Content, Wedding | No Comments »

As a bride to be planning your wedding, you have so many plans you need to make in order to create the perfect wedding.  One alternative is to make your own bouquet and flower arrangements, especially if your budget is tight.  However, if this is not your desired road to take then the following advice concerning using a florist might be what you are looking for.

The wedding planning decisions can be very stressful. Each little decision you make affects the overall day. Therefore, it is important to try to find help wherever you can. Take help whenever offered and although it is very hard, sometimes, let others help with some of these decisions. Refer to flowers for more information.

Choosing the right florist can really take a lot of stress off of you. However, it is important to know what to look for in a florist so that you end up with a florist that will cater to all of your Wedding Flower needs.

You should reserve your floral designer early on in the wedding planning process. You will want a floral designer who is knowledgeable, creative and pleasant. Most importantly, your florist should be courteous and sensitive to your desires and try to accommodate you with the best flowers available within your budget, no matter how much or little you have to spend.

What to do BEFORE you head out to meet with a florist.

Think about the type of person you can work with well. Do you want someone who is going to take charge and pretty much make all of the decisions for you? Or, would you rather just have someone who can gently guide you in the right direction? Or, would you like a combination of both? Someone who knows the best, but offers their advice in a manner that puts you in control?

Talk to friends and relatives who have recently been married and find out who they would recommend and where they have interviewed florists.

Really think about the colors and type of bouquet you have always dreamed of before you go in to see a florist. This way you will have some idea of what you like. However, be open to the suggestions your florist
has, as you could be pleasantly surprised. Visit flowers for more information.

Here are some questions you can ask a potential florist.

1. What is the florist’s design philosophy? Florists generally love to share their artistic abilities. Ask to see a portfolio. Do their styles and views fit with your own ideas?

2. The florist should have an extensive portfolio showing a broad range of wedding work from bouquets to centerpieces. Photos are a great way to see the consistency of work.

3. You can get an idea of a florists experience by asking questions. What flowers will be in season on your wedding day? What if your budget is small, how can the florist maximize your options?

4. What are trends in style now? Why would or wouldn’t your idea work?

5. What are the most popular flowers for your wedding season?

6. Does the florist preserve bouquets after the wedding? If your florist does not preserve bouquets, than ask for references and be sure to make an appointment before the wedding, so that you can get your flowers preserved directly after.

Choosing the right florist will help take off some of the pressures of all of those wedding decisions. Once you have made your decision, your florist will guide you along the process of making the best wedding flower decisions and help you to create the wedding of your dreams.

No matter if you decide to do your own floral arranging, or use the services of a florist, your wedding day will be what you want it to be.

How to Choose Flowers for Your Future Mother-In-Law

March 2nd, 2009 Posted in Flower Arrangements, Main Content, Tennessee Ramblings | No Comments »

Getting married is a joyous time. It is a time in which you make vows to spend the rest of your life with that special someone. The wedding planning can be somewhat stressful, but not quite as stressful as impressing the mother-in-law. Mothers are protective of their children, so it is important to let the future mother-in-law know that you are the right one for her child. This involves showing much respect and doing what you need to do to get her approval. If you do not get her approval, then your spouse has to hear how mom feels you are not good enough. Refer to flowers for more information.

Well, she may not say that you’re not good enough, but it is still good to let the future mother-in-law know that you respect her. After all, she is the mother of your future spouse who is the reason for your happiness. You have to express this thankfulness somehow and a great way to do that is by giving her a floral arrrangement as a simple thank you for being such a great mother to your future spouse.

How to choose the flowers

Choosing the right flowers can be somewhat difficult because you don’t want to get her flowers that she hates. You also don’t want to get her flowers that she will be indifferent about. Sure, the gesture is kind, but you want to make sure that your choice is one that will make her very pleased.

So sit down with your future spouse and ask:

1. What kind of flowers does your mom like?
2. What are her favorite colors?
3. Does she like real or artificial flowers?

Asking these questions are a great way to figure out what it is your future mother-in-law likes. If by some chance your future spouse does not know the answers to all of these questions, be observant when you are at your future mother-in-law’s house. Does she have flowers or other plants around? Does she have pictures of flowers or is there are consistency in floral patterns on curtains and even furniture? If you notice that she has a fondness for floral patterns with pink roses, then chances are she likes pink roses. If you get her pink roses, then you know that they will match the room.

Another thing to look at if your future spouse doesn’t have the answer is if there are real plants or artificial plants in the house. Does she have any pets? If she has pets, then she might prefer artificial flowers above real ones because the animals may try to eat them.

Don’t be obvious

Aside from asking your future spouse questions, try not to be too obvious when looking around the house. This can look rather suspicious. If the information is not easily available, the home most certainly contains the answers. If there are no answers within the home, ask your future spouse if she is opposed to roses. Many women love roses and giving your future mother-in-law pink, yellow, or even peach roses can make her day. By coordinating with the color themes in her home, she knows that you are paying attention, which tells her that you have a regard for her, that you are observant, and that you are concerned about what she thinks. That tells her that you respect her and you will gain her respect in return.

Having her respect is very important when marrying her child because this means that there will be peace within the family and a regard for each other. Giving her flowers says so much and choosing the right ones says so much more. Visit flowers for more information.
