Winter just goes on and on and on

Old man winter just doesn’t want to leave the South.  This is the longest
time we have had snow for so long.  Just got another 5-6 inches overnight.  It seems that just as the snow has finally stopped, it comes right back again.  It wouldn’t be so bad if our roads would get plowed, but we are so far from the City that we are the last ones to see a plow.  Have to wait until every place else is done first.  Oh, well maybe by the time they make it here the snow will have melted.  But I have to admit, it is a beautiful site.

The Bridal Veil and its Past

February 11th, 2010 Posted in Wedding, Womens World | No Comments »

One of the oldest bridal traditions is the bridal veil. The use of the bridal veil is one of the oldest practices during weddings. Along with the oldest bridal customs, wearing a bridal veil is still evident. It still remains esteemed by brides that the veil is part of the plan when they have their bridal dresses designed. Story has it that the veil’s purpose is to ward away the evil spirits that may do harm before she is delivered to her husband. The veil is used to symbolize the bride’s purity and integrity. Her purity and virtue are guaranteed to the husband and his family with the use of the veil. During the ceremony, the meaning of lifting the veil aside from presenting her to the family is letting the groom have ownership over his wife.
